Do you post outside the UK?
Yes, I regularly send Paddles and Canes all over the world. When you reach checkout and enter your details a flat rate carriage charge will be added based on your location. Some countries are not covered, but I can still send to you. Simply contact me so I can provide you with a quote for shipping to your location, and add it to the website for future use. How do I clean my Paddle?
The simplest thing to do is wipe the surface of your Paddle with an anti-septic cloth and allow it to dry. Please don’t soak it, or put it in a dishwasher. This advice applies Delrin canes and birches also. If you have any problems you can of course contact me here.
How do I maintain the finish of my wooden implement?
All the paddles are finished with a food-safe mineral oil and the look can be refreshed simply by wiping it over with oil, applied on a soft cloth. Never oil these implements with a vegetable, or olive, oil, apart from potential allergy issues, these oils will stay slightly wet, trapping dust in the surface, and eventually go rancid. Humblers, and the items of victoriana, are oiled and then finished with a coat of wax. I favour Briwax. You can simply refresh the finish on these items with a coat of any clear furniture wax, buffed with a soft cloth.
Is the item in the picture the one I will receive?
This depends on the range. With the individual, one-off items I produce, grain and shape are unique to the item and an important part of the piece. In this case the item you see in the picture will be the item you get. With regard to the standard shaped Paddles, Spatulas, and the Humblers, the site will show a picture of each species of timber, as an example of the finished item. in these cases, you will not receive the item pictured, rather one of the same style and species… but rest assured, it will still be breathtakingly beautiful! If you require a specific ‘standard’ item, contact me here and I can send some pictures of the stock I am holding at the current time.
The item I want is out of stock…
Pieces in the ‘Standard’, ‘Humbler’, ‘Delrin’ and ‘Victoriana’ ranges will occasionally show as ‘out of stock’ in the shop. If they do you can do one of several things; 1/ check back another time to see availability; 2/ use the ‘contact me’ form to enquire about availability, and I will probably make you one immediately; 3/ choose another species or take a ‘one-off’ piece instead.
Do you produce commissioned work?
Yes, I will consider any ideas that people have for special paddles, implements or furniture. Please feel free to contact me through the website with any ideas and if I feel that I can realise your design I will be happy to provide a price.
Do you undertake other Carpentry work?
Yes, but with a few provisos… Only if it is Kink related and so requires discretion and understanding; only if I am really interested in the project; only if I have time, because I like my workshop and I do not want to neglect Carved Kink.
